2017 Training Workshops for Clinical Supervisors of Interns

Dear all,

The Medical Council of New Zealand (the Council) is once again organising training for clinical supervisors of PGY1/PGY2 interns around the country.

The workshops will be run in half-day sessions and will be primarily facilitated by Connect Communications.

The dates for all the upcoming workshops are:


Monday 20th February


Dunedin Hospital


12.30pm – 4.30pm


Friday 24th February


Tauranga Hospital


10.30am – 2.30pm


Wednesday 8th March


Auckland City Hospital


9:30am – 1:30pm


Tuesday 6th June


Hutt Valley Hospital


10.30pm – 2.30pm

These interactive workshops will provide you with an understanding of:

  1. Council's processes and requirements for supervisors of PGY1 and PGY2 doctors.
  2. How to identify and manage the intern who is having difficulty and requires support.
  3. Best practice supervision, including: maps and models of supervision, supervision tools and tips for providing feedback.

Please note a requirement of being a Clinical Supervisor on ePort, is that you attend supervisor training within 3 years of commencing your role.
